OVERVIEW: The grand dame herself, Queen Mary 2 (QM2), will embark from Southampton, England on an unforgettable 14-night voyage through Norway and Iceland, August 4-18, 2026 providing Rautenstraus Travel group members the rare opportunity to witness a purported full Solar Eclipse in the port of Reykjavik, Iceland on the evening of August 12. Viewing the eclipse from Iceland will offer a unique, immersive experience, as the country’s dramatic landscapes will provide a striking backdrop to this inspiring event. This memorable journey will include visits to the picturesque towns of Zeebrugge (Bruge), Belgium; Olden and Skjolden, Norway; and Isafjordur, Iceland, before disembarking in New York City. Group members will be treated to the serene beauty of the tranquil fjords, thundering waterfalls, and breathtaking scenery across the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, as well as seven amazing days at sea interspersed throughout the itinerary – sumptuous time for reading, cinema movies, games, room service, dazzling entertainment, engaging seminars, nurturing spa treatments, dance classes, high tea, ocean gazing and more! Group leaders Dr. Michelle Medrano and Dr. Ras Smith, along with their spouses, Practitioners Ken Crismon and Tina Smith, will offer seminars at sea with spiritual insights, and group members will receive a connecting “Who’s Who” directory of group members – all in the joy of expanding one’s circle of friends.
ABOUT THE QM2: The QM2 is a luxury cruise ship; the flagship of historic Cunard Line. QM2 is known for its space, elegant staterooms/suites, and varied dining options. It also has a luxury spa, library and outstanding entertainment. QM2 is the only passenger ship that regularly crosses the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the largest ocean liners ever built (1,132 ft. long; 23 stories tall; 14 decks), featuring 1,353 staterooms – 73% of which have private balconies. QM2 has 8-9 restaurants and bars (some with a seating charge), including the Britannia Restaurant which spans two decks and has a grand staircase; and a gastropub called the Golden Lion, which serves ale brewed exclusively for Cunard. Ship life includes 3-4 Gala Evenings with themes, e.g. Black and White/Masquerade/Roaring ‘20s. Some guests dress up in tuxedos and ball gowns for these events.
