Rick Steves, host of American Public Television Series Rick Steves’ Europe, and Kent Rautenstraus, co-owner with Kathleen Rautenstraus of Rautenstraus Travel, Inc., recently enjoyed a conversation about their mutual love of travel and music. Rick was a piano teacher before his career took off traveling down the backroads of Europe. Kent continues to blend careers in music and travel. Life is good!

151 Rautenstraus Travel group members sailed on Cunard, the most famous ocean liner in the world, aboard the legendary QE2 to the Mediterranean in August 2007. Ports of call included: Lisbon, Portugal; Barcelona, Spain; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Rome, Italy; and Gibraltar. It was an unforgettable adventure, and we were one of the last groups aboard the high seas on this historic vessel, for in November 2008, she was permanently dry-docked and turned into a luxury floating hotel resting in a special harbor in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Here our group is in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the world- famous Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse. Visiting the northeast in the fall is a rare treat indeed!

Come to Jamaica, mon!” the advertising slogan says, and so we did! Here our Rautenstraus Travel group is pictured at the site of a great barbeque featuring authentic island foods including mouth-watering tropical fruits fresh off the tree! Special thanks to “Mom” Barrett for opening up her home for this event!

These three pictures are from our incredible land tour of five European countries that share the magnificent Alps: France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and Germany. Our group enjoyed authentic lodging in chalets; gourmet cuisine; extraordinary musical and cultural experiences; transportation on trains, boats, gondolas, and motor coaches; and breath-taking sacred moments in nature, including a group prayer at the awe-inspiring Italian Dolomite Mountains.
